Sherie Painter Cannin

Sherie Painter Cannin

Sherie P. Cannin is an established litigator at Pribanic & Pribanic, where she has dedicated over thirty years to advocating for victims of medical negligence. Her career is defined by a rare level of tenacity and a "ground-up" mastery of the legal profession. Joining the firm in 1994 as a paralegal, Sherie later transitioned to the role of attorney in 2004 after the remarkable feat of attending the Duquesne University School of Law full-time in the evenings while continuing to work full-time at the firm. This period of intense dedication set the stage for a career built on a tireless work ethic and a lifelong passion for representing the underdog.

Sherie’s practice focuses almost exclusively on complex medical malpractice litigation, with a specialized emphasis on wrongful death and birth injury cases. She is widely recognized for her focused passion for helping infants and children harmed by negligence—a pursuit she finds to be the most rewarding aspect of her practice. Because she spent years learning the inner workings of the legal system before ever stepping before the bar, Sherie brings a unique perspective to the plaintiff’s side of the courtroom. She understands that her clients often face overwhelming odds against powerful institutions, and she takes immense pride in ensuring that families receive the advocacy, dignity, and voice they deserve during their most difficult moments.

Throughout her tenure, Sherie has played a critical role in numerous civil jury trials and has become a formidable presence in Pennsylvania state courts, where she has argued a multitude of pretrial motions. Her strategic approach to litigation has resulted in a prolific track record, including numerous seven-figure and countless six-figure recoveries. While she has a commanding presence in the courtroom, she is equally known for her empathy and sharp investigative skills. Her proficiency in negotiation and discovery allows her to resolve approximately 95% of her cases successfully before trial.

Sherie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in the Administration of Criminal Justice from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997. During her time at Duquesne University School of Law, she was a leader among her peers, serving in the Student Bar Association for two years and as Justice of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity.

Her dedication to service extends well beyond the courtroom and into the heart of her community. Sherie has long been an active leader at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she has served as a Congregation Council member, Vice President, and Treasurer. Her commitment to local families and children is further evidenced by her work on the Executive Board of the Logan Elementary PTO and her past board service with Trying Together.

Deeply invested in the Mon Valley and surrounding areas, Sherie’s history of volunteerism includes mentoring students at McKeesport Area High School through the CLAAY Program and supporting victims of domestic violence at Woman’s Place McKeesport. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for MA’s Pantry in East McKeesport, where she utilizes her professional writing skills to secure grant funding to combat local food insecurity. Today, Sherie remains a steadfast champion for the injured and the underserved, combining three decades of institutional knowledge with a relentless pursuit of justice for the families she represents.
